GET THE COLORS
1. Lay out all your colored pencils, crayons, markers, color swatches—whatever you have handy.
2. Close your eyes and randomly pick 3 to 5 colors (or more; it’s all about having fun—no rules here!).
3. Snap a photo of your color picks if you like the combo. If not, move to the next step.
4. Don’t love it? No problem—just start over and try again!
You might wonder why you should bother playing this game of chance when there’s no guarantee it will work. Why spend time on something unpredictable when you can easily find thousands of ready-made color palettes online?
HERE IS WHY.
We must embrace new, unconventional, and wild techniques to tap into creativity truly. It’s all about stepping outside our comfort zones, as cliché as it sounds—it works! How often do we stumble upon great ideas by accident? Choosing random colors blindfolded might seem crazy, but it can lead to unexpected and exciting palettes you’d never have thought of. Sure, it might not always work, but you’ll never know unless you try—and every experiment teaches us something. It’s never a waste of time. Plus, letting go for a moment and simply having fun is a refreshing break from the daily grind. You might just discover the creative spark you’ve been looking for!
To discover something new, we must stop following the crowd and dare to take a different path—one that isn’t already paved. But true innovation means creating that path ourselves. Instead of relying on ready-made color palettes, imagine how exciting it would be to craft your own unique combinations and inspire others. Wouldn't it feel more fulfilling to create and give something original rather than simply borrow from what’s already out there?
To feel relaxed and free, we need to reconnect with something we’ve lost as adults—the ability to play, be curious, and create without judgment or fear. Too often, we're afraid of being laughed at, so we play it safe, hiding our creative ideas from the world. We fear making mistakes, being imperfect, or letting go of control. But we must tap into that childlike freedom to discover bold, new techniques. We can break free from fear and embrace our authentic, creative selves only when we release our inner child. Who says we have to be serious, boring adults all the time? Embracing our inner child is far better for both our creativity and well-being. Let’s make sure that playful spirit never dies!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
